My mother looks at my Chinese horoscope every year and for 2016, she told me it was going to a turbulent year with some challenges.  She advised me that I needed to make careful, thoughtful decisions and not rush into anything this year.  Year-of-the-Monkey-300x200
Typically, I don’t take horoscopes too seriously… but I think it hit the nail on the head for this year.  For The Wellness Center, many of our practitioners have been dealing with personal challenges which have dampened the year and zapped their energy.   We had 2 practitioners that had to abruptly change their schedules due to last minute personal decisions.   Even through all the ups and downs, I am still awed by the amazing courage and resiliency that all of my practitioners and staff bring forth each day, even in the midst of chaos and hardship.  They are inspirational.
I don’t feel like this turbulence is limited to just The Wellness Center.  It feels like this has been a tough year for many of our clients, friends and community.  A year of loss, separation and health challenges.  I don’t know if you are having the same experience, hopefully not. My hope is that we move through this year with resiliency and continued hope for a better day tomorrow and next year.
Challenges and changes in life keep us on our toes, teach us many life lessons, and are part of the human experience.   Usually, we come out the other end of the challenges, stronger, humbler and wiser. I suppose this is the benefit of getting older, right?
During times like these, rather than become angry or frustrated, I have learned instead, to allow my internal compass to guide me in my decisions. To make decisions from a quiet, calm place rather than a place of fear, pressure and scarcity.
If you are going through a tough year, take breathe and know that this will pass. Like everything else in life. To give yourself permission to not drive harder, but instead honor the “soft” feminine place inside of yourself.  Give yourself the gift of extreme self-care and actually put yourself first. I promise it will pay you back in dividends, in terms of reducing stress, anger and frustration levels.
Here is to honoring the feminine side of life.
