The other day I was having tea with my girlfriend and I was expressing how grateful I am for this time in my life.  She said to me, “Sharon, you have been very intentional about the choices you have made, you have created this current life.” 51e7c38c6860535ee0a9d44418b293fe[1]
That really hit me.  Yes, she was right… I have been making certain decisions in my life which have led me to where I am today.  I believe there has been some divine intervention that has helped me make those big “life” decisions.  Knowing what is important to me has helped to steer me away from decisions based on instant gratification and short term gains.
Everyone’s ideal life is going to look different… do you want to live in the mountains in isolation, live in the city?  Do you want to travel the world or have free time to camp and enjoy the outdoors?
How do you choose an intentional life for yourself?
Here are a few tips that have helped me…
1)      GAIN CLARITY… know what is important to you, think about it and write it down
2)      HAVE VISION… create a vision board for what you want your life to look like
3)      MAKE A COMMITMENT… once you know your vision commit to it each day, it is not easy to be committed to something.
Believe me the road is not always going to be easy.  For me personally, I have lost a lot of money on a failed business venture which forced me to file bankruptcy.   I have been engaged and broke it off, and went through many broken hearts until I found my current husband.   At one point in my life, I was working 2 jobs and trying to run my business to pay my bills.
When you go through these tough times and you know what is important to you, it helps to build up your internal “grit.” Keeps you resilient, and then one day you wake up and you think to yourself, I have created this life.  I promise, if you stay committed to yourself and your vision, you will create it.
Here’s to creating an intentional life.
Happy Summer!
