As I have gotten older, I have noticed that having openness in my schedule, which I call building in “time margin” into my day, makes a huge difference to my overall wellbeing.
Time-RelaxHaving time margin in the mornings where I am not rushed, allows me to take my vitamins, make a good breakfast and start my day on the right foot.  It’s not every day that I have this luxury of time.   When I don’t have it I feel harried, and stressed.
This month has been particular hard for me, with many changes happening in the The Wellness Center that require lots of energy.  I have been canceling many of my social engagements, because any free time I have, I try to spend with my daughter and husband.
When we lack time margin personal, volunteer and social time drop to the bottom of the list, which brings our happiness levels down.  It is has been shown that if you volunteer and keep strong social ties with friends and family that your health improves and it reduces stress.
This is a reminder to don’t overschedule yourself this season.  Make sure to build in some “time margin” every day, so you can maintain your sanity for yourself and those that you love and care about.
Here’s to your health and well-being!
