This March, The Wellness Center’s celebrates its 14th year in business!  I can’t believe how quickly the years have passed.  Thank you to all of our clients!  I know I speak not only for myself but for all of the staff and practitioners, when I say how blessed we feel to work with such amazing clients like you. Superhero kid
Recently, I have been thinking a lot about courage.  I have decided that everyone that commits to their own self-care is doing a courageous act… because it is against mainstream thought and culture.  Being compassionate, kind and loving to yourself which is the core of self-care, is in fact, giving you the tools to be compassionate, kind and loving to others.
My father is currently my source for inspiration on courage.  He is battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer and recently completed 12 rounds of chemotherapy and has decided to discontinue treatment, against his oncologist’s recommendation.  Act of courage #1, not following mainstream medical establishment.  We are looking into an alternative treatment, which will require a huge commitment from my father to change his lifestyle.  Act of courage #2, being open to something new and having hope for his life.  I have only seen my father cry twice in my lifetime, now he frequently shows his emotions.  Act of courage #3, being vulnerable.
How are your courageous in your life?  Do you have the courage to:

  • Be imperfect?
  • Let go of the preconceived notions of who you “should” be?
  • Live authentically?
  • Show yourself love, kindness and compassion?
  • Be vulnerable?

I challenge you this month to be courageous in small ways in your day to day life.  If you need some motivation check out this Ted Talk by Brene Brown on The Power of Vulnerability.
I lift a glass to being courageous this month.
To your health,
sharonsig

“There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition, and of unspeakable love.”
~Washington Irving
