Hello Everyone!
Next week is the official Random Acts of Kindness Week! (Feb 10th-16th, 2014) The Wellness Center will be wrapping up our in house Random Acts of Kindness initiative.
Come on in and share your story!
Our inspiration for promoting this program is one of our former massage therapists, Holly Shultz, who, in memory of her mother last year, went on a mission to do daily acts of random kindness for a week. She invited family and friends to participate and share their RAKs on Facebook. The fun and positive energy Holly and her friends created was something to behold. Holly was interviewed by a local paper, people from Colorado to Pennsylvania were participating and many, many unsuspecting people benefited from the fun. Sometimes it was something as simple as buying coffee for someone, other times it was picking up someone’s groceries. Not all acts of kindness require money, there are many little things a person can do that simply demonstrates goodwill toward others such as giving a co-worker a ride home or letting someone go ahead of you in a checkout lane. Oftentimes, once you start looking for something nice to do, the opportunity will present itself.
So, to kick off the New Year, we have put $500 into a jar at the front desk. If you feel inspired to do a Random Act of Kindness, take a little cash from the jar and together, we can positively affect change in our community! Idealistically, the recipient will be so moved that s/he is motivated to “pay it forward” and perform an RAK for someone else…
The only thing we ask is that you write down what you did and put it into the jar. Your name is not needed. We just want to post all of our good doing on our FB page and maybe inspire others to do the same.
If you want to add to the jar to help replenish it, feel free!! We will continue to play as long as we have cash in the jar!
