Kevyn, one our Massage Therapists is practicing silence for 30 days.  He started on July 16th and so far he has been doing great!
Of course we were curious, so we had to ask, “Why are you doing this?”
“For my spiritual practice. By removing words from my daily experiences, I hope to see better with my eyes and hear better with my ears. My mouth has had a tendency to get me into trouble and I have, unintentionally, hurt people’s feelings. And sometimes I just talk too much and don’t know when to stop.
I used to wish I were mute so I couldn’t hurt others or make others think differently of me because my beliefs.  In my search for Truth, I have discovered many ideas that excite and entice me to dialogue with others.  Unfortunately, the result of this attempt to connect, oftentimes, resulted in making others uncomfortable or simply having people judge me. I am choosing to embrace silence to help me surrender to life and to create more clarity in my perceptions. If my consciousness were water, I’d want it to be still from the ripples of thought and emotion, so my perceptions would be as clear as possible.”
