4 months ago, I was feeling so much angst, guilt and unrest.  I was feeling guilty that wasn’t working in my business more, that I wasn’t cooking enough, and that the house wasn’t clean enough.   Guilt is such a counterproductive and pervasive emotion.  It separates us from our humanness and hinders us from being gentle and kind to ourselves.
After realizing I was feeling this guilt, I finally decided to make some changes and am happy to say that the daily guilt trip I was giving myself is gone.  What caused the change?  I finally invested in some help and created more realistic expectations for myself.
Here are the top 3 things that I changed to help me enjoy day to day life more.
1)      Hired a cleaning company to deep clean every 2 weeks.  This is seriously a game changer for moms, it is hard enough keeping up with the day to day cleaning. Spending the little free time I had deep cleaning, was making me feel resentful so then I was procrastinating.  Then feeling guilty about procrastinating.  This monthly investment is worth its weight in gold.
2)      I decided that it is ok if we order take out or go out to eat 2-3 times per week.  I know this was a tough one to reconcile in my mind since it is expensive to eat out but honestly, I don’t love cooking.  To meal plan, shop, prep, cook and clean for ½ the meals for the week was more of a realistic expectation for myself.
3)      I promoted Kris to Director and Yosevine to Assistant Director for The Wellness Center, this has allowed me to stop feeling guilty about not working as much.

What in your life is causing you guilt and angst?  Give yourself permission to not be perfect and to create more realistic expectations for yourself and your life.  .
