Welcome to February…a month that hinges on a holiday with roots dating back thousands of years to Roman times where it perhaps originated as a feast day or fertility celebration and then was somehow linked to one of three Christian Saints named Valentine. No one really knows but the legend and mythology surrounding Valentine’s Day give it even more attractive. The question is…how will you observe the 14th this year? How will you celebrate yourself? Your special someone? Your family? Friends?
The traditional or mainstream approach is all about confections, cards and flowers. But what if you attempted to “show love” in a different way? I was recently introduced to a book called The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman. This personal growth tool sheds light on five different ways (aka languages) to show your love for others, and helps uncover what language you prefer as well. Do you resonate more with words of affection, quality time, receiving gifts, acts of service, or physical touch. And what mode fills up your partner/spouse, child, or friend’s well of love best? Check out this quick read for another take on giving this Valentine’s Day. I think you find it most interesting.
Wishing you much love,
