10 Months. 10 Charities features Grow Local Colorado

We are in about to enter the third month of our 10 month giving program – donating 10% of massage profits to 10 local charities in honor of our 10th Anniversary (click here for details).Grow Local Colorado  will be the featured charity in May.  Make sure to stop by for a massage to support this amazing cause.

The mission of Grow Local Colorado is to promote local food, local economy and local community.  We see those three elements being inextricably linked.  Grow Local has been officially in existence since the fall of 2009, founded by members of Transition Denver, the Living Earth Center, Denver Botanic Gardens and the Mile High Business Alliance.  Since that time, our supporting partners have grown drastically, and include organizations such as Feed Denver, Denver Urban Gardens, 910Arts, Revision International, Sustainable Food Denver, the Handmade Homemade Market, Urbiculture Farms, among many more.

Our successes are many, including the quarterly potluck/networking events we host to convene the many individuals and organizations who are involved in the urban agriculture arena.  Grow Local Colorado also partners with Denver Parks and Recreation, the Parks Stewardship Program and Volunteers of Outdoor Colorado to grow Edible Public Demonstration Gardens in Denver parks.  The purposes of the gardens are to demonstrate the beauty of edible gardens, to inspire and encourage Denver citizens to grow more vegetable gardens, and to provide some healthy, locally grown produce to communities in need.  The gardens are planted, maintained and harvested by local volunteers, with the food going to such organizations as The Gathering Place, EarthLinks, the Salvation Army, Mount St. Vincent Home and the Food Bank of the Rockies.
